Why?
I am a portable college student but I wanted a reef that I could be proud of, yet still bring home for the summers. It all started with
a decorative 0.75 gallon desk reef, went to the 2.5, then the 5.5, now the square. This should be the end and so far has met my expectations.
How?
Display Tank
Display tank is 17x17x10.5. I got the glass from a local glass company (1/4" sides, 3/8" bottom) and used All-Glass clear silicone:



The false wall is acrylic, but backed with glass in the display tank. I had to get a little 'creative' to cut the overflow slots, but
they worked out really well:



Next up was the 16.5x16.5x10 sump. It was built with 1/4" acrylic and bonded with weld-on #3:



The stand and the canopy were next. The bottom stand pictured isn't being used because it is difficult to transport and defeats the purpose of
making this project portable. These pictures are before sanding and sealing:
